Glacier LW 8K L – My Experience with Chilkey’s New Flagship
The Glacier LW 8K L is Chilkey’s first major release under their new branding, and I’ve been using it for a while now. It’s a well-rounded mouse that focuses on comfort and consistency rather than just chasing the lowest possible weight. I mainly used it in a claw grip, and it’s been a solid performer across aim trainers, FPS games, and everyday use.
Build & Shape
At 47g, the Glacier LW 8K L feels light for its size, especially compared to other full-size claw-shaped mice. The design supports multiple grip styles, but for me, it feels best suited to claw grip. The shape feels safe — comfortable, familiar, and easy to adapt to without adjustment time.
The surface has a smooth coating that feels nice in hand, offering enough grip without being overly textured. Build quality is solid, with no creaks or loose parts. The overall construction feels refined and durable while still maintaining that lightweight feel.
Performance
I mainly used the mouse at a 1KHz polling rate, and performance has been excellent. Tracking is consistent and reliable, and the battery life has been brilliant — easily lasting through long sessions without needing a recharge. The Fog Blue optical switches feel crisp and sharp, with minimal pre- and post-travel and very little wobble. The click feel is clean and responsive, typical of an optical switch.
The scroll wheel feels well-balanced, neither too heavy nor too loose. The OLED screen is surprisingly useful, especially if you switch between multiple PCs or laptops. It makes checking DPI, polling rate, and connection mode quick and convenient without needing software.
Final thoughts
The Glacier LW 8K L is a great example of a well-designed, lightweight mouse that doesn’t compromise on practicality. It’s not the lightest mouse I own, but for its size and shape, it strikes an excellent balance between comfort, performance, and usability. The clicks feel refined, the shape is safe, and the overall experience feels premium.
If you like a comfortable, medium-to-large claw grip mouse with reliable performance and strong battery life, the Glacier LW 8K L is definitely worth considering.
